Danielle will be familiar to some belly dancers as the other half of Las Musas, with Debra Napier. In 2010 she moved to the North Coast and started teaching tribal belly dance (Fat Chance Belly Dance ATS style) in Lismore and Byron Bay.

Idell

Idell's video isn't what you'd normally expect on this site! She and one of her assistant teachers, Rachelle, appeared recently on Australia's Got Talent as 'Cleofatra", a bellydance/burlesque type act that certainly got the judges' attention!

Unfortunately, unlike Ferah, they didn't make it past the semi-finals - but it was great to see belly dance represented on television for once!

Of course, Idell doesn't dress (or talk!) like that in real life, but the performance is a good indication of her bubbly personality and sense of fun. Her teaching philosophy is "fun, fitness and self-acceptance". Her school, Dancing Tiger, is based in Ipswich with offshoots in Lismore, the Sunshine Coast and Boonah.

Alexandra (aka Sandra Rather) is co-principal of the Desert Flame School of Belly Dance (with Shameela). She has been teaching for over 12 years locally and interstate at regional festival workshops.

Amulya

Originally from the Netherlands, Amulya now lives and performs in the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

Amulya has a varied dance background, and has even travelled to India to study Indian dance styles. However she remains a belly dancer first and foremost, and her latest interest is tribaret - which I have to admit, I hadn't heard of before. It's a mix of classical belly dance and tribal fusion.

Amulya is very active in the international belly dance community, as a moderator on the Belly Dance Forum and as a writer for BellyDancing Diva.

Many of us will envy Madonna - her husband Peter is a drummer! Together they've been running the tribal studio DrumDance Bellydance in Toowoomba, Queensland, since 1993.

Dani takes a fresh and original look at belly dance, teaching both Belly Dance Fusion and Raks Gothique at her Newcastle school. The gothic influence doesn't mean her style is all darkness and shadows - her Fusion classes have plenty of scope for fun and joyfulness.
