Hip Scarves

I'm a big fan of velvet for belly dance hip scarves! How many times have you tied a chiffon hip scarf around your hips at the start of the lesson, then felt it heading south as the class went on? It doesn't seem to matter how tight you tie it - the more you shimmy, the more the knot loosens.

Velvet scarves hug your hips much better! It's partly the fabric, which is less slippery, but also the fact that most velvet hip scarves have some "give" so they stretch as you tie them (in fact, the best ones are made of stretch velvet). Plus, of course, they have a gorgeous, lustrous look and some lovely jewel colours!
