Lina is a recent – and welcome! – import to our shores. Originally from Hungary, she’s already making her mark on the Australian belly dance scene, as this video shows:

You can catch Lina performing at the El Mustafa restaurant in Glebe, or contact her through the Newtown Middle Eastern Dance Centre where she teaches.

I am learning Belly Dancing and have a great deal of trouble shimming (upper & lower), what tips could you give me to make it easier.

Thank you so much for taking you time helping me.

This article gives some tips on how to shimmy (lower body):

For the upper body – I wish teachers would stop calling it the “shoulder shimmy”, because if you use your shoulders it looks awful! Most people find the best way is to think about keeping your chest and shoulders in one line, then rotating either around your breastbone or around your spine.
